Paddock 27

April 4, 2012 by MDF

Paddock Number 27
Area 3.0 ha
Perimeter 850 metres
Soil Type This paddock has a grey loam above heavy yellow clay described as Denison Clay Loam (De) in ‘Major Agricultural Soils of the Maffra Region’, Sargeant, I. and Imhof, M. (2000)
Description This paddock is very flat but drains east to west directly into the re-use dam at the western end of the paddock. This paddock has issues with efficient water distribution and is very labour intensive so pasture production is short of what is achieved on the remainder of the farm. This paddock was sown to perennial ryegrass in XXXX.
Irrigation System This paddock was originally set up for flood irrigation but was converted to a system of bike-shift lateral sprays in XXXX. Because of its issues with water distribution and labour intensity it is being considered for redevelopment.
